Styles of Thai MassageThe Southern Style
The Northern StyleThe Northern style, as taught in Chiang Mai, is gentler and incorporates many more stretches. Our book and DVD will teach you the basics of the Northern style. This form of bodywork is thought to have travelled to Thailand along with the spread of Buddhism. Thai massage was once performed only by monks in temples, or wats, as part of the Buddhist practice of Metta, or "loving kindness." A good practitioner of Thai massage maintains concentration, close attention to the needs of the client and a sense of gratitude to the recipient for allowing him/her to be of service. |
